Ways of Being Involved
There are four ways in which people can become involved in INUF or hear
about what is happening in Mental Health in Newham and East London:
• Volunteers:
People who are willing to give a little of their time by helping out with
a number of activities including: the running of reception and facilitating
activities. Explore the internet and websites, for resources and information
to expand our information centre. Undertake book reviews, or chat to fellow
Users\Survivors to reduce isolation and exclusion that can too easily
happen in more formal settings
• INUF Representatives:
For people who want their views and opinions heard on mental health issues.
Represent INUF and attend decision-making meetings and events with others
or alone, which are examining service development, planning reviews or
change.
• Website/Newsletters:
The newsletter and the website are options for service user/survivors
to voice their opinions without attending decision-making meetings. Be
an assistant Editor to our quarterly Newsletter called INUF Said and attend
INUF Said’s editorial sessions. These give you a chance to give
your views on mental health issues. For those of you who do not want to
attend the sessions, you can email, post and hand in your work at Ithaca
House. All contributions will be welcome.
• INUF Members Forum:
This weekly event takes place every Thursday providing an opportunity
for exchanging news or information on issues around mental health and
for finding out more about INUF. Guest speakers invited as requested by
members. A relaxed and informal atmosphere.
