Well, Well, Well!

INUF has just finished running a ten-week, healthy lifestyle club for its members: The Wellness Club. Led by Humaira Hussain, INUF Project and Marketing Coordinator, the club aimed to improve the health, fitness and wellbeing of INUF members.

Members discussing healthy eating options.

Topics covered included: Eating for Health, Weight Management, Learning about Foods, Easy Recipes, Snacking, Setting Goals, Meditation, and Physical Activity.

The club was well-attended, with 12-13 people taking part, and an average of eight people attending every week. Feedback from attendees was over-whelmingly positive, with members liking learning about healthy snacks, the laughter, the supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere, the weigh-ins, and being introduced to exercises.

Members came up with suggestions for the benefits of exercise.

The project was match-funded by London Catalyst, an independent, grant-making trust, which has been tackling poverty, and improving health, in London since 1873. They provide funding for charities and not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects and improve services, aiming to alleviate the effects of poverty, and to improve the health and well-being of Londoners, in particular people with mental and physical illness, long-term, health conditions and/or disabilities.

There are plans to start the Club again at the end of June, and to add a fitness circuit to the activities.
