In the Pursuit of Fitness

Wednesday, 25 September, saw the start of INUF Fitness Pursuit, a free, 12-week course of fitness classes. There are two levels, the one on Wednesday for beginners, involves chair-based exercises, and takes place between 1.30 and 3pm. The additional one on Thursdays is for those who are already involved in some sort of fitness regime, and starts at 2pm. Both classes are in the Main Hall upstairs in Ithaca House.

The Wednesday class is led by professional fitness instructor, Uzma Butt, whereas Ulli Gerstenebrg, a martial arts and fitness instructor, leads the Thursday session.

Attendees are asked to wear comfortable clothing and trainers. Lunch is provided after the class on Wednesdays, followed by advice on nutrition, motivation, wellbeing, exercises and daily living.

Funding has been obtained for the programme from Stronger Together, an organisation receiving money from the Mayor of London.

”We’re really glad we can provide this opportunity for our members, especially as there is so much evidence linking physical activity with good mental health,” said Humaira Hussain, INUF Project Coordinator.
