

Women’s Group Learn about Diabetes
INUF staff member, Cordelia Ibe , used the topic of her dissertation for her Health Promotion degree from the University of East London, to provide information to last week’s Horizon Women’s Group about diabetes. She is also working as a volunteer with Diabetes UK, and has received training in raising awareness of the condition. KNITTING GROUP GETS CREATIVE
Every Thursday afternoon, from 12.30 pm-2.30 pm loyal volunteer, Doreen Kendall, leads the knitting group in creating all sorts of knitted articles, from scarves to doll’s clothes. All materials are provided, though members can bring along wool and accessories of their own, if they have a specific project in mind. Horizon Women’s Group Learn about Healthy Eating
Last week, the Women’s Group had a “hands on” lesson from Humaira Hussain about how to cook healthy meals, and got to try it out for themselves! The INUF members cooked roast chicken with a tasty seasoning on the skin, roast potatoes, and a salad with pomegranate ketchup dressing. At the same time, Humaira gave the group tips on healthy eating and nutrition to use at home. The results were so delicious, there were no leftovers!
